Headmaster's Letter 19th January 2024

Dear Parents,

Bringing up children is one of life’s greatest privileges - it can also be one of life’s greatest challenges! And in an increasingly complicated world for our children, parenting has become harder too. For this reason, and also in our ongoing attempts to put children’s personal development and wellbeing at the forefront, I am delighted to publish the amazing array of speakers and topics lined up for our ‘Dumpton Talks Week’, which takes place from Monday 19th to Friday 23rd February.

The Dumpton Talks Week is an opportunity for all of us to reflect and learn from a range of insightful speakers, and be better informed about how to help and support our children on their journey through life. I hope every parent will see a talk which might be of interest – and whether it is building on things we already know, or learning something new, I feel sure the week will spark some rich conversations and help us all feel invigorated about our role as parents, and leave us all confident that we are armed with the right toolkit to approach what might lie ahead!

All the talks are free and open to the wider Dumpton community – but please book tickets to secure your place (via the school website) so you don’t miss out.

Survey  Thank you so much to everyone who has completed the survey – we’ve had lots more responses in the last few days. For anyone that is still wanting to do so, it will remain open until midnight tonight.

Dumpton Summer Ball – Saturday 18th May - Sponsorship Opportunities  As we announced last week, we are holding a Summer Ball here at Dumpton on Saturday 18th May to celebrate 120 years of Dumpton School. This is not a fundraiser for the school – simply an opportunity to bring the whole community together for what we hope will be an enjoyable evening. To ensure we can keep ticket prices as reasonable as possible we are seeking sponsorship to make the occasion a very special one. To hear more about sponsorship options, please contact Lerryn (headspa@dumpton.com) who can provide some more information in due course. I would also be very happy to speak next week to anyone interested in being a ‘main’ sponsor for the event.

Netball, Hockey and Cross Country  Some fantastic fixtures have taken place this week. The pupils were not in any phased by the chilly weather! Well done as well to those hardy runners in the Dorset County Championships yesterday too. Please find attached the match reports for the week which you may like to read.

Easter Holiday Clubs  We are delighted to open up bookings for the Easter Holiday clubs in the first week of the holiday. Please book as soon as possible to avoid disappointment:
