Dear Parents

FODs Quiz Night
Thank you very much for supporting the FODS Quiz Night in such high numbers – we had some very competitive teams and the usual friendly competition.  Thank you also to Mr Ashworth and family, for their support on the night.  A big thank you also, as ever, to all those on the FODs Committee, and to all those who have stepped forward for the coming year.

Christmas Party - Friday 2 December
We now have only a few spaces remaining for this event at the West Beach Restaurant, Bournemouth.  If you would like to join us please drop your booking form into the Front Office and contact Sarah Schiel fods@dumpton.com

Informal Concert
A big well done to the 17 musicians who entertained us so royally on Tuesday lunchtime.  We enjoyed a range of instruments and genres, and some memorable performances.  We also had seven more impressive performers in school assembly this morning.
Thanks as ever must go to Mrs Watkiss and her team of peripatetic music teachers too.

Children in Need
Thank you for your continuing contributions to the annual Second Hand Toy Sale.  Boxes and bags are still arriving daily, ready for a big stall on Thursday 17 November.  We are grateful once again to Sam Dean and her team for all their hard work in organising, pricing and supervising on the day.  Do please keep the toys (large or small) coming.  Sam is also very keen to receive fancy dress items.

Prep School Hobbies
We will be starting new hobbies after half-term, and the new choices will soon be available for selection on the Parents' Area of the website.  A range of indoor options are already planned, such as Chess, Effervescent Science, Calligraphy, Christmas Cookery, Microelectronics, Drama, Film Making and various craft activities, but there will also be the option of outdoor sport for the more hardy amongst us.

Wednesday Sport and Rugby Protocols
There was another busy afternoon of football and hockey on Wednesday with lots of competitive matches.  Among the many successes through the school, I would just like to say well done to the 1st XI football side whose 8-0 win over Ballard means that they have won all 12 of their matches this season.  The U13A and U12A girls’ hockey sides were also very pleased with their performances in their 7-2 and 12-0 wins over Castle Court.  As we move on to boys’ rugby in the Prep School after half-term, we have put a link on the school website relating to concussion protocols that should be followed by everyone involved.  We have asked that all school rugby coaches work through the training, but thought it would be of interest to parents too.

Inter-house football
Tomorrow, on the last day of half-term, we look forward to the arrival of Ash Randall (no relation) who will demonstrate his many football juggling skills in the Prep School Assembly and then spend the day interacting with the pupils, including those in the Pre-Prep.  He will also be present at the Inter-House Football Competition, which will involve every boy and girl in the Prep School - hopefully they will be able to apply a few of the skills Ash shares with us …

Effort and Attainment Grades
Just a reminder that all pupils in the Prep School should take their exercise books home at the end of this week.  This should provide further feedback alongside the Effort and Attainment Grades sent home earlier in the week.

News from the Year 3 team
The Year 3 pupils had a lovely day at Cranborne Ancient Technology Centre earlier in the week.  This will feature on the weekly Year 3 blog, which can be found at www.dumpton.com/Y3Blog  We notice that the number of the ‘hits’ has decreased of late, so we thought it worth readvertising!  Thank you, parents, for your support for the Parents’ (English and Maths) Meeting this evening, and I hope you enjoy reading the children’s books over half-term.

Headmaster’s Breakfast
Planning ahead, I look forward to welcoming ten of you (one per year group) at the Headmaster’s Breakfast at 8.30 am on Tuesday 15 November.  Please keep your ideas feeding through to your year group representatives.  If you are not sure of their name or contact details, please contact fods@dumpton.com and you will be pointed in the right direction.

Rotary Shoebox Appeal
Pupils have been introduced to the idea of sending a Christmas Shoebox to a child who otherwise would receive little.  Please do search school bags, as leaflets with more information will be distributed to children tomorrow.  Filled boxes will be collected soon after the half term break.  Thank you, in advance, for your support.

With best wishes for the half-term break

Yours sincerely
