Dear Parents

National Swimming Champion
We have a new National Champion in our midst!  Robbie H (Year 7) won the 25m Butterfly Final with a new PB of 13.75s.  Robbie is the first Dumpton swimmer to be IAPS National Champion two years in a row.  Absolutely outstanding!

Georgina H (Year 5) also qualified for the finals at the K2 Centre in Crawley, coming an impressive 6th= - very well done.  I would also like to congratulate the Year 7 boys’ relay team (Robbie H, Ollie S, William S and Henry W) on making Dumpton history by being our first boys’ relay team to attend the IAPS National Finals – coming 10th overall in the country.

Headmaster’s Breakfast Take 2
After a very productive meeting with representatives from the junior year groups last Tuesday, I now look forward to welcoming the Year 3 to Year 8 representatives at 8.30 am on Tuesday 16 May.  Do contact your Year Group reps if you have any last minute contributions.  I look forward to another positive meeting - Steph will provide delicious food (as last time) and the kettle will be on …

Dragons’ Den
It was a pleasure to see groups of pupils pitching ideas for the improvement of the school with such confidence at the FoDS Dragons’ Den at lunchtime today.  The ideas included Digital Lights, Allotment Maintenance, a 3D-Printer, Google Virtual Reality Goggles and a new pupil designed Traffic Sign for the Car Park.  Well done to everyone involved.  The Dragons are reflecting on the presentations from today and will finalise their decisions over the weekend …

Dumpton Music
Well done to all the junior musicians who did us proud at Junior SATIPS at Bryanston last Tuesday.  Once again they were a credit to the school.  Thank you also to all the musicians who play with such confidence at Prep School assembly every Thursday.  We now have the chance to see even more performers at the Informal Lunchtime Concert next Friday (19 May) at 1.30 pm in the Recital Room.

India Day
Thank you for supporting our India Mufti Day today.  It is one of our most colourful days, with an array of outfits and a special curry from Steph. Funds collected will be sent to the Awake Mercy Children’s Home in Tamil Nadu, where they will sponsor one destitute child for a year, feeding, clothing and educating them, and effectively lifting them out of poverty.

Year 4 Camp Take 2
Good luck to 4P who are camping in the grounds with Mrs Welch and her team this evening.  The weather again looks set to be fair(ish) and I am sure that they will enjoy themselves just as much as 4C did – who were then remarkably quiet after lights out!

Year 4 - 6 Exams
The exam season is fast approaching but we will endeavour to make this as painless and productive as possible for the children.  If you are interested in examples of questions for the Junior Exams (Years 4 and 5) please do look on the Parents' Area of the website.

The Life of a Vet
A big thank you also to Dumpton parent Sarah Johnson (Reception) who gave a fascinating talk about the life and work of a vet to the Reception children – all part of their Careers Education!

ISI Inspection
Thank you all for your kind words of encouragement last week during our three-yearly visit from the ISI Inspectors.  The report will be published in 5-6 weeks’ time, at which point we will post the judgments on our website and forward a copy to you all.

Temporary Closure of Burt’s Hill
We have been told that Burt’s Hill will be closed from Monday 15 May until half-term due to the replacement of a water main. It is hoped that the road will reopen after half-term on Monday 5 June.  Fingers crossed.

And finally …
For those parents and friends of the school who are on Twitter, we would be very grateful if you could start following Dumpton. This is a new medium for us, showcasing all the school has to offer via this form of social media, and we would be very grateful of your support.  Thank you in advance. Yours sincerely
