National Swimming Champions

We took an impressive squad to the IAPS Swimming Heats at Clayesmore in early February with 34 pupils competing in a series of relays and individual events. There were first places for the Year 6 girls and Year 7 boys Medley Relay, and the Year 6 girls and Year 7 boys Freestyle relay teams.  Well done also to Amelia C (50m Backstroke), Anthony L (50m Breaststroke), Grace C (50m Breaststroke), William S (50m Breaststroke), Henry S (50m Breaststroke), Robbie H (25m Fly) and Georgina H (25m Freestyle) who won their individual races.

After a nervous wait, we were delighted that some of our team qualified for the IAPS National Swimming Championships in May: Robbie H qualified in the 25m butterfly, Georgina H in the U10 girls 25m freestyle, Henry S in the 50m breaststroke and Robbie H, Ollie S, Will S and Henry W for the U12 4x25m Freestyle Relay.

And the results of the day showed how talented our swimmers are. We have a new National Champion in our midst!  Robbie H, Year 7 won the 25m Butterfly Final with a new PB of 13.75s.  Robbie is the first Dumpton swimmer to be IAPS National Champion two years in a row.  Absolutely outstanding! In addition, Georgina H, Year 5 came an impressive =6th in the 25m Freestyle, and our congratulations to the Year 7 boys’ relay team – Robbie H, Ollie S, Will S and Henry W, on making Dumpton history by being our first boys’ relay team to attend the IAPS National Finals – coming 10th overall in the country. Very well done to all!
