Dear Parents

ISA Skiing at Hemel Hempstead

Seven children represented Dumpton at the ISA Indoor Ski Championships at The Snow Centre in Hemel Hempstead on Monday. The team comprised of Niamh T, Howard G, Jessica B, Tom W, Zac and Leon S and Olivia S. They all skied well and put in two good times in both of their runs. Dumpton was 5th in the Mixed Open Section. Niamh was 4th in the U14 girls, Tom was 4th in the U12 boys, Leon was 8th in the U10 boys and Howard was 10th in the U14 boys. The next Inter Schools race is at Southampton next Sunday 13th May. If there are any others that would like to join the team please contact n.williams@dumpton immediately as entries close online at 5pm this Sunday.

Music@Dumpton
Well done to the junior musicians who attended the Junior SATIPS Orchestral day at Bryanston on Tuesday.  Mrs Watkiss was delighted by their contribution both on the day and at the concert in the evening.  This was followed today by a delightful Informal Concert for Years 3, 4 and 5 at lunchtime.  It is always good to see so many young musicians stepping forward to perform with such confidence in public.  We now look forward to Old Dumptonian and guitar virtuoso William McNicol’s Guitar Workshop and Concert next Thursday.  Will has visited us before so we know we are in for a treat!

National Swimmers

Well done to Robbie H (Yr8), Iris C (Yr7), Amelia C (Yr7) and Grace C (Yr7) who have all qualified for their individual events, and Maya D (Yr7) who is part of two very strong relay teams who will compete at the IAPS National Schools’ Gala at the Olympic Pool on Saturday 9 June.

India Day

Thank you to all the parents and pupils who supported our Indian-themed Mufti Day today, raising funds for the sponsorship of our pupil at Awake Mercy Children’s Home in Tamil Nadu, helping them to lift at least one child out of poverty.  Please find a flyer attached to this letter from the FoDS Committee regarding the foreign coins collection to also raise money for Awake Mercy.

Senior School Scholarships

Thank you to all those who have expressed an interest in the Senior Schools Scholarship Meeting next Tuesday (8 May).  Drinks will be served in the Recital Room, prior to the meeting from 7.30pm.  Do please feel free to add your name to the list via Lerryn (01202 883818 or secretary@dumpton.com) – all are welcome.

Year 6 visit France

A large group of Year 6 pupils left very early this morning in good time for their early sailing, accompanied by Madame Tulodziecki, Mr Price, Mr Moulton, Matron Stokes and Miss Barman.  They have an exciting itinerary ahead, including visits to the Bayeux tapestry, the World War 2 site at La Pointe du Hoc and a French market to buy lunch.  They will also enjoy a guided walk across the bay from the famous Mont St Michel.
