1 December 2017

Dear Parents

National Champions!

Many congratulations to the Year 7 girls who travelled to Ipswich for the 30 school U12 IAPS National Finals last Friday.  On the day we faced some very well-known sporting schools such as Millfield, St Olave’s, Danes Hill and Westbourne House.  After six very competitive matches in the morning we topped our group and then battled through the quarter and semi-finals to play Holme Grange in the final. The tension went to new heights as the score was 0-0 after extra time - but we went on to win the match on penalty shuffles!  An outstanding achievement from all eight girls.  Thank you to Mrs Clemmitt, Mrs Welch and all the parents for their support on a very memorable day for Dumpton hockey.

Christmas Concerts

Thank you to all the Year 2 pupils who played so beautifully at the Instrumental Concert on Thursday afternoon.  Well done also to all the pupils who have prepared for the Senior Gala Concert this evening.  We are looking forward to a range of instruments on show with some impressive ensembles and solo pieces.  Thank you in advance to the peripatetics and Sue Watkiss, the Director of Music.

Sports Reports

Despite the frosty ground we still managed to get all our fixtures played this week. Well done to the U13A rugby side who won 25-10 and 50-5 respectively against Castle Court and Durlston Court, and to the U12A side who battled hard to draw 20-20 and win 40-0 in their corresponding fixtures. Congratulations also to the senior girls’ hockey teams, with the U13 side performing well at the In2 Hockey Tournament, losing in the semi-final, and the U12 side winning 8-0 against Sherborne Prep.

Filming Christmas Plays

Due to popular demand we have again made plans to film the Pre-Prep Christmas performances with Curtain Call Productions – allowing everyone to sit back and enjoy the show.  Order forms should be with you already but please let us know at the Front Desk if you need any more details. The Year 3 Play will be filmed in house and made available on the school website.

Best wishes

Andrew Browning
