Dear Parents

One of the great things about working in a Prep School is the sheer joy and enthusiasm on show. This week it has been hard to escape it! As you'll see below, there are so many rich and varied experiences for the pupils here at Dumpton. Quite apart from these all being beneficial and memorable learning experiences, many are also just plain good fun - and we make absolutely no apology for that. Thank you to all the parents who are following the children's latest adventures on Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter, and for parents in Nursery to Y3, on Tapestry. We love being able to share things with you, and it's a great way for you to have an insight into life here at Dumpton for your child.  www.dumpton.com/school-news

U13 Boys - National Finals
The U13 Boys achieved something rather special on Thursday at the Regional IAPS Competition at Millfield School. Playing some brilliant hockey over the day, they qualified for the National Finals, which are going to be held in March at Haileybury School in Hertfordshire. We are so proud of this team who have worked so hard on their game over the year. A huge thank you to Mrs Clemmitt for her coaching too.

Nursery Wild Cooking
Warming our toes on an open fire... home cooked chili con carne... what's not to like? Our Nursery children loved their 'al fresco' lunch down at the campsite this week. Thanks to Mr Cox for his help, what a lovely experience for the children.

Y6 and Y7 Canford Applicants - Headmaster's List Day
A big well done to the Y6 and Y7 pupils who have visited Canford over the past month. The Headmaster's List Day is the final part of the Canford Admissions process, and involves interviews, some academic testing, as well as some group exercises. We know all the pupils really enjoyed their day, and we wish them all the best for when the results come through later this term.

Y2 World Food Day
Y2 had an exotic day earlier in the week in the Food Tech kitchen, tasting and sampling a wide variety of cuisines as part of their topic work learning about the wider world. Black fungus or lotus root anyone? Many thanks to the Y2 staff and the superb Mrs Brown for organising.

Prep School Orchestra
We had a rather incredible 35 children attend our Prep School Orchestra this week again - we think this may be a record for a Prep School! Mrs Mudd and Mrs Warde were blown away, and how exciting for all those pupils to play their instruments alongside others. We very much look forward to a rendition of their chosen piece ('The Avengers' theme music) at our Spring Extravaganza later this term.

Junior Performance Assembly
Well done to all 8 of the children who performed in the Junior Assembly on Thursday. With singing, piano playing, and also violin pieces, we were really spoiled for choice. A huge credit to all those children for stepping outside of their 'comfort zone' like this to perform.

Y1 Space Day
Y1 look like they had a marvellous 'Space Day' today! An almost legendary element of the Y1 curriculum, Space Day sees the children (dressed as astronauts of course) compete in astronaut training throughout the day. A variety of cognitive and physical tasks were set up all round the school, as well as learning lots and lots about their topic for the term, Space.

Easter Holiday Club
A reminder that there are still spaces for our Easter Holiday Clubs. Do click on the links on the email to book your place.

Best wishes
