Dear Parents

Parents’ Evenings
Next term in the Prep School there will be a full Parents’ Evening for all pupils and all subjects.  In the meantime, we will be running interim meetings for Year 3 and Year 4 Parents next week, focussing on English and Mathematics.  Mrs Rielly has invited Year 3 and Year 4 parents to book into the system, via our website, ready for the Year 4 Meeting on Tuesday (16 October) from 4.00 pm, and the Year 3 Meeting on Thursday (18 October) from 4.00 pm.
Prep School Attainment and Attitude to Learning Grades: Message from Mrs Rielly
Your child’s grades for the first few weeks of term will be e-mailed to you shortly.  Each pupil will have met with their tutor this afternoon to see how everything is going.  They have also stuck a copy of the grades in their planner.

FoDS Quiz Night
A big thank you to all the parents and staff who supported the FoDS Quiz Night last Saturday – it was a most convivial evening with lots of friendly competition.  Congratulations to Steph and her team who won narrowly this year.  Thank you to all parents on the FoDs Committee, and to all those who have stepped forward for the coming year.

Christmas Party - Saturday 1 December
The FoDS Christmas Party will again take place in the Hytes Suite at the Harbour Heights Hotel. Tickets are £42.50 and include a delicious 3 course meal, followed by coffee and mince pies.  The Information Sheet and Booking Form will be sent home early next week.  Please complete the booking form with your group, or clearly specify who you wish to sit with and FoDs will do the rest.  As the number of guests is limited to 100 please get your booking in early to avoid disappointment.

FoDS Committee:  Message from the committee
We are in the process of building a new FoDS Committee for the coming year. It is hoped that there will be representation from all levels in the school.  We understand if your busy lives prevent attendance at frequent meetings, but we have resolved to streamline the organisation of FoDS events, to make involvement less onerous and more fun!  Each year group might be involved in the organisation of just one event, for example – and please be reassured, there will be a separate Summer Ball Committee for 2019!  Please do drop us a line at fods@dumpton.com – without obligation.  In the meantime, we may approach you in the car park…

 Children in Need
Thank you for your continuing contributions to the annual Second Hand Toy Sale.  Boxes and bags are still arriving daily, ready for a big stall on Thursday 15 November.  We are grateful once again to Sam Dean for all her hard work in organising, pricing and supervising on the day.  Do please keep the toys coming.

Prep School Hobbies
We will be starting new hobbies after half-term, and the new choices will soon be available for selection on the Parents' Area of the website.  A range of indoor options are already planned, such as Chess, Funtime Science, Christmas Cookery and Film Making but there will also be the option of some outdoor sport for the more hardy amongst us.

Wednesday Sport
There was another busy afternoon of football and hockey on Wednesday with lots of competitive matches through the school.  Well done to the senior football teams who have continued on their impressive way, with the 1st XI still unbeaten as they approach their last fixture next week.  There were many excellent performances throughout the school, and it was good to see 200+ children in a Dumpton shirt on the same day.

Year 7 and Year 8 Examinations
Just to reassure both parents and pupils, Year 7 and Year 8 revision lists will be on the Parents’ area of the website by the weekend.  The Year 7 and Year 8 examinations are set for the week starting Monday 19 November – three weeks after half-term.

Next week
We look forward to an Informal Music Concert at 1.30 pm in the Recital Room on Friday 19 October.  Later that day we have the much anticipated Inter-House Boys’ and Girls’ Football Competition.  As this is an internal event, with all staff occupied, it is not possible to entertain parents on the day.

With best wishes

Andrew Browning
