Dear Parents

Christmas Party - Saturday 1 December

The menu and booking forms should be arriving home with the children this afternoon – they are also attached to this e-mail.  If you would like to join us, please drop a booking form into the Front Office and contact fods@dumpton.com

Informal Concert

A big well done to the 25 or so musicians who entertained us so royally today.  We enjoyed a range of instruments and genres, and some memorable performances.  We have also had 25+ performers facing audiences of 250+ in School assemblies on Thursdays this term – well done to them all.  Thanks as ever must go to Mrs Watkiss and her team of peripatetic music teachers too.

Children in Need

Thank you for your continuing contributions to the annual Second Hand Toy Sale.  Boxes and bags are still arriving daily, ready for a big stall on Thursday 15 November.  We are grateful once again to Sam Dean for all her hard work in organising, pricing and supervising on the day.  Do please keep the toys (large or small) coming.  Sam is also very keen to receive fancy dress items.

News from the Pre-Prep

Reception enjoyed a wet Monday morning visit to Wimborne library.  The children were invited to join the library and informed that they could borrow up to a total of 20 books! They were also told about the fun activities that the library has planned for this half term. The Pre-Prep children who took part in the DCC summer reading challenge received their certificates in assembly on Wednesday - keep reading!

Prep School Hobbies

We will be starting new hobbies after half-term, and the new choices are now available for selection on the Parents' Area of the website.  A range of indoor options are already planned, such as Funtime Science, Christmas Cookery, Techtime, Movie-making, Life Saving and various craft activities.

House Football

Congratulations to Sussex on their success yesterday, winning the House Football Tournament, pipping Kentnarrowly into second place.  It was good to see all Prep School children at all levels taking part.

Wednesday Sport

There was another busy week of football and hockey, with 200+ pupils involved.  Well done to the 1st XI boys who completed an unbeaten season (played 11/won 11) with a 3-1 win against Stroud School, Romsey.  The girls' hockey sides were also very pleased with their performances, winning 11 of their 12 games against Castle Court.

News from the Year 3 team

The Year 3 pupils had a lovely day at both Stonehenge and the Cranborne Ancient Technology Centre last week.  This will feature on the weekly Year 3 blog, which can be found at www.dumpton.com/Y3Blog.  Thank you, parents, for your support for the Parents’ (English and Maths) Meeting this evening, and I hope you enjoy reading the children’s books over half-term.

New Head

A quick update – the Governors received a very strong field of applications, and drew up a long-list who have been interviewed off site over the past two days.  A short-list will now be selected and the recruitment process will continue after half term, with an announcement due by the beginning of December.

Rotary Shoebox Appeal

The children have been introduced to the idea of sending a Christmas Shoebox to a child who otherwise would receive very little.  Please do search school bags, as leaflets with more information should already be with you. Filled boxes will be collected soon after the half-term break.  Thank you, in advance, for your support.

With best wishes for the half-term break.

Yours sincerely
