Dear Parents

Common Entrance Results
Congratulations to all the Year 8 pupils who have worked so hard for their entrance exams to senior school.  They have all been successful in winning a place at their chosen school.  Excellent news for all!  As a result, from this cohort, we will have 30 pupils heading to 6 different schools, including 5 to Bryanston, 5 to BCS, 10 to Canford, 3 to Clayesmore, 3 to Millfield and 4 to Talbot Heath.  Very well done to all.

Recitation Competition
We were very grateful to Duncan Fowler-Watt, Head of Performing Arts at Bryanston, for visiting Dumpton to judge the Final of the Recitation Competition.  It was a delightful afternoon, with the eventual winners Daisy D (Yr7), Ava B and Gigi G (Yr6), Megan C (Yr5), Lily R (Yr4) and Charlie R (Yr3).  Very well done to all the finalists.

FoDS Summer Ball
Could I send out a huge thank you to all those involved in this hugely successful occasion. Starting with the FoDS Committee who worked tirelessly behind the scenes including Karen Wood, Melanie Haskell, David Smith, Alaina Salsbury, Jess McArdle, Anna Gregory and Susanna Heffer - also to Sam Adams for the artwork and Helen Ffoulkes-Jones for the beautiful flowers (and ducks)! Then there was the wonderful singing from our very own Sarah Bolter, Katie Lennox and Samantha Richardson and contributions from Dumpton staff, including Savannah Barman, Amanda Goodhew, Caroline Dickson and Sue Watkiss.  FoDS also received many generous donations for the Silent Charity Auction, which was a huge success (total to follow).  In addition, Jo and I would like to thank everyone who came along to the evening – it was a delightful occasion and we were humbled by your generosity and kind words.

Staff and Seniors Serenade
Thank you to all staff and pupils who contributed to such an enjoyable concert on Tuesday, including the staff and peripatetic music teachers.  Thank you also to Sue Watkiss who organised such an impressive programme.  It was an extremely pleasant evening with some outstanding and very memorable virtuoso performances. We were also very grateful to the parents and pupils for their generous applause on the night.

Sports Days
I would like to thank all the staff, pupils and parents involved in the annual Prep School Sports Day on Wednesday. Mr Randle et al produced an outstanding afternoon, with 220+ competitors all taking part in at least three events and everything running perfectly to time.  Similarly, I was really impressed by the spirit of the children in the Nursery and Reception Sports Day yesterday - there were smiles in every race!  We now look forward to the Year 1 and 2 Sports Day next Friday.

Looking ahead
Below are a few details of events to come in the last week of term to allow you to plan well ahead.

End of Year Picnic – Thursday 4 July
All are welcome at this event.  Start time is 3.30 pm for the Pre-Prep and 4.15 pm for the Prep School pupils.  Please bring your own picnic to enjoy a lovely family occasion.  FoDS are delighted to be hosting the above event again this year and have secured family entertainer, Jamie Jigsaw, who will be teaching us a few tricks and skills, along with playing a few games and modelling some balloons.  Laser quest and a giant inflatable slide, professional face painting and bio glitter tattoos are all part of the fun.  Mad Mitch Ice Creams, Dorset Larder and Pizza with Love will be serving up tasty snacks and drinks.  Come along for some end of term fun and socialising.  As this is a family occasion, it is requested that all children be accompanied by parents if they are attending.  Finish time 7.00 pm.  All pupils can wear home clothes during the day to save them changing out of school uniform later.  Pupils not attending will be supervised until 5.45 pm and school buses will then run as normal. If your child will not be on the bus, please cancel online or e-mail – busadmin@dumpton.com

Lessons for the Prep School will end on Thursday 4 July.  Reports will be distributed by email, hopefully before the end of term.  The Nursery and Pre-Prep classes will finish for the term at 3.30 pm on Thursday 4 July but After School Club will run as usual.  There will be no lessons on Friday 5 July.

Speech Day – Friday 5 July
There are no school buses.  Prize Giving starts at 10.00 am prompt for all children from Reception through to Year 8 and their families. Car parking will be signposted. Children should come to school with their parents in time for Prize Giving and should sit with them. Dress code for Prep School: long-trousers, ties and blazers for boys; Pre-Prep: Normal school uniform.  Everyone will be invited to drinks outside the Marquee from 12 noon.

Yours sincerely
Andrew Browning
