Dear Parents
Parents’ Evenings
Thank you to all those who have booked their appointments on the Parents’ Evening booking system.  Mrs Rielly has asked me to remind you of a couple of points for future meetings.  Firstly, could you please bring a copy of the appointments on the evening, and secondly could you check that you have made appointments for all the teachers you would like to see – there will be very little leeway for further appointments on the night.  Thank you in advance for this.
The Year 8 Academic Scholars Parents’ Evening follows next week on Tuesday 29 January and we look forward to catching up with many of you then.  Children will be supervised in the Green Room (next door to the Recital Room) after the end of school on Parents’ Evenings if required.
Mrs Rielly has asked me to remind you that there are some useful Maths calculation guidelines (Years 3 – 6) available on the Parents’ Area of our website.  A handy reference if you would like to see the techniques taught to the children in their maths lessons. http://www.dumpton.com/Parents-Maths.aspx.
News from the Sportsfield
We have had another busy sporting week, despite the cold weather, which sadly caused the cancellation of some of the netball fixtures. Again, I was impressed by the spirit shown by all the pupils, and they were rewarded with some competitive games, encouraging results and very exciting moments. Well done to all.  Our U11 boys hockey team are playing at Kings Bruton at the IAPS regional championships today – more news on this next week.
Request from the Front Office team
As we are now very much in the middle of the colds and flu season, the office team have asked if you would ring through absences as early as possible each day so that registers can be completed first thing in the morning. Alternatively, please email to matron@dumpton.com if this is easier for you.  Thank you in advance.
Christmas Charities
A quick, belated thank you to everyone who gave so generously to our charities at Christmas.  The Christmas Jumper Day raised £203, while the retiring collection at the Carol Service raised just over £617 for the work of Wimborne Minster and Julia’s House.
FoDS Summer Gala
With everything now in place, members of the FoDS Committee have asked us to draw your attention to the email and flyer sent this week.  This is a new venue, in the middle of Wimborne, which comes highly recommended.
Christian and Hattie Saenger
We are delighted that the new Headmaster and his wife will be visiting the school after half term to meet with staff and pupils.  We are also in the process of arranging several days in the Summer Term where they will be able to meet with parents and familiarise themselves with their new surroundings.  They look forward to meeting you all soon.
Looking Ahead
Next week we have Year 3 Netball fixtures against Walhampton on Tuesday and the Year 8 Academic Scholarship Parents’ Evening.  There is then a whole host of (24) hockey and netball matches on Wednesday against Clayesmore, Durlston Court, Port Regis and Sandroyd.  Later in the week, on Friday we have a Year 8 team attending a Debating Competition at Milton Abbey.
Yours sincerely
Andrew Browning
