Dear Parents

The Pirates of the Curry Bean
The Year 6 pupils enjoyed their romp through ‘The Pirates of the Curry Bean’ yesterday evening, a play full of music and fun.  There were some very memorable moments, so once again thank you to Miss Anson, Mr Nye and all the pupils involved in the project.
Pre-Prep and IAPS National Athletics
Well done to all the Year 1 and 2 children for competing with such good spirit at the Sports Day today.  Thank you to all the parents for their support.  For those who were unable to buy a photograph on the day pictures will be available on the DE Photo website. Good luck now to the Dumpton athletes heading for the IAPS Nationals at Birmingham early next Tuesday morning. Fingers crossed for them all.
EYFS Summer Concert
Thank you also to all the children in Nursery and Reception who put on a lovely show for us on Monday morning. Very well done to Mrs Bolter for marshalling the troops once again.
House Swimming
All pupils in the Prep School will be taking part in the House Swimming Gala on Wednesday (4 July) afternoon. Just a reminder that kit bags can go home on Tuesday evening but that pupils will all need their swimming costumes and towels for one more day. Unfortunately, with 200+ children and 20+ staff in the swimming enclosure, there will not be room for spectators on Wednesday.
Dance Extravaganza on Thursday 5 July
This will take place outside by the marquee from 4 pm and will involve most of the pupils in the Pre-Prep and Prep School.  All parents are welcome of course.  Claire Camble-Hutchins would like to make a plea for all boys to wear their black t-shirts and the girls their leotards for the last few rehearsals – and most importantly for the final show!
FoDS End of Year Picnic on Thursday 5 July
This will start as soon as the dancing has finished and continue until 7.30 pm. Please bring your own picnic and drinks. However, there will be hot food to buy from Dorset Larder.  There will also be disco music in the marquee, glitter tattoos, face painting, balloon modelling and laser quest.  Can we stress again that children should be accompanied by their parents at this event, as it is very much a family affair.
Speech Day on Friday 6 July
I hope to see you all on Speech Day, which starts promptly at 10 am on Friday 6 July.  Here I will take the chance to thank some highly-valued members of staff who will be leaving this term, including Mrs Sharp, Mrs Camble-Hutchins and the team of loyal Student Teaching Assistants. We will also hear the wise words of the inspirational educational speaker James Shone, a longstanding friend of the school. Following the proceedings FoDS will be offering Pimms and juice. I will certainly aim to say farewell and good luck to each leaver.  If I do miss you on this busiest of days, can I take this opportunity to pass on my best wishes for a long, hot summer wherever you are, and I look forward to seeing you back here in September with your children suitably rested.
Form and Class Lists
New Prep School Form Lists and Pre-Prep Class Lists will be published in September, allowing us to make adjustments for any unforeseen changes in class lists over the summer months. These will be sent out by email before the start of the Autumn Term.
Second-Hand Uniform
On Wednesday 4 July there will be a Second-Hand Uniform Open Afternoon from 3.00 pm – 5.00 pm.  If you have any bags of second hand uniform, please give them in as soon as possible, so that we can include them in the sale. The shop will be closed for sorting on Tuesday.
DiaryZapp
DiaryZapp is an educational App that originated from a discussion around the Headmaster’s coffee table here at Dumpton. It has been developed by the Dance family and is designed to keep children engaged with literacy tasks through the summer holidays. If you are interested, please see the flyer that should be coming home in the school bag next week …
And finally …
We start again in earnest at 8.30 am on Wednesday 5 September.  As usual, please do park up as directed on the first day and head for your son or daughter’s new form/classroom to meet their Form or Class Teacher.
With best wishes for an enjoyable summer.
Yours sincerely
Andrew Browning
