Dear Parents

Easter Egg Hunt
A big thank you to all the FoDS and Nursery parents who supported our Easter Egg Hunt today.  We were so grateful to all the FoDS Committee for organising this event and particularly Alaina Salsbury and Sarah Waters who were excellent hosts for the day.  It was good to see the smiling faces of all the children as they searched for the eggs in the adventure playground.  We then retired to the Front Hall for hot cross buns and coffee.  They continued their good work with Year 1 and Year 2 after break!

New Sports Hall
Just a quick update on this exciting new building.  As you may have seen, progress has been very positive and the build is running to time. We hope to be using the Sports Hall next term at some point and look forward to introducing you all to this wonderful new facility.

Message from Mrs Rielly - Director of Studies
For those planning ahead, there are now updated revision lists on the Parents’ area of the website for next term’s exams for Y5 (Maths and Science), Y6 and Y7.  The revision list for Common Entrance for Y8 remains the same as for the Mocks this term.

Christian Saenger
Some of you may have noticed Christian in school on two occasions over the past two weeks.  He has already visited Dumpton to meet with staff and governors and to help with the appointment of new staff for September 2019.  He is very much looking forward to meeting parents and pupils more formally next term and beyond, and sends his best wishes to you all.

House Cross Country
We had a lovely afternoon in the sunshine on Wednesday at the Inter-House Cross Country Competition.  Well done to all the pupils who completed the course, and congratulations to the Dorset team on winning the House Cup.  The highlight of the afternoon was the support that the children gave to each other, both on and off the course, and the smiles on their faces at the finish line.  Who would have thought that running long distance could be such fun!

A message from Madame Tulodziecki - Summer Club
After Easter, Mme Tulodziecki will be in touch with all those who have signed up for the Summer Club.  Please remember to book your place online over the Easter break if you are interested to avoid disappointment – the link is below.  A reminder that the dates are Week 1: Mon 8 July – Fri 12 July and Week 2: Mon 15 July – Fri 19 July.

Baking for Charity
Well done to the pupils in 4W who raised £129.43 on their Cake Sale this week, which will be split between 4Ocean and Dementia UK. The children worked really hard and should be proud of their achievement.  Thank you everyone who supported this.  Well done also to the staff who raised £147.55 for Leukaemia Research with some delicious staff cakes on Monday.

Tennis in the Sun
We wish our squad of tennis players, accompanied by Mrs Cox, Mr Cox, Mrs Clemmitt, Miss Barman and Mr Jeremiah, all the best on their trip to play tennis in the Algarve next week.  We hope the sun shines for them throughout.

Valete
Sadly, I have to announce that Mr Albin, will be leaving at Easter, after a long association with Dumpton, as a peripatetic Music teacher. Over the past 29 years, Maurice has been a constant fixture, producing an array of impressive concerts and very talented guitarists.  We celebrated this in the Prep School assembly on Thursday morning where we thanked Maurice for his considerable contribution over many years and wished him every happiness for the next stage.

Mr Ashworth has organised a concert at Sixpenny Handley Village Hall at 8.00 pm on Saturday 6 April, to mark the end of this era.  This will include internationally renowned guitarist Will McNicol, a Dumpton old boy, and one of Maurice’s former pupils, along with Maurice, of course!  Please do come along to enjoy an evening of outstanding guitar playing if you are free.

Summer Term
The Summer Term starts on Tuesday 23 April 2019 and all children should return in their summer uniform as per recent e-mails.  Once again, to stagger the demands on the car park on the first day back, we would be very happy if the Pre-Prep parents dropped off their children a little later at 8.45 am. Of course, those with siblings in the Prep School will be welcomed at the usual time.

And finally …
Best wishes to Miss Hammick (5H) who will be returning after Easter as Mrs Sowden! We wish her the happiest of weddings and happiest of honeymoons over this holiday.

With best wishes for the Easter break.
