Dear Parents

National U13 Football Champions!
Many congratulations to the Year 8 girls who won the IAPS U13 National Football Championships at Taunton on Tuesday.  Having won 4-0 away at Durlston Court last Friday, they remained unbeaten on the day against teams from Danes Hill (4-0), King’s Hall (3-0) and Millfield (1-1) to end up overall winners and National Champions – an amazing achievement!

News from the Prep School
Congratulations to the Senior SATIPS musicians who performed so well at Bryanston earlier in the week.  All pupils surpassed themselves and were a credit to the school on a long, but rewarding day. We were then all relieved that the weather held for the very successful Year 6 trip to Lulworth on Thursday.  Hopefully the Year 3 trips to Stonehenge on Monday (8 October) and to Cranborne Technology Centre next Friday (12 October) will be similarly blessed.

Wednesday Sports
There were fixtures at all levels in the Prep School again this week.  I would like to congratulate the 1st VII girls on winning a competitive West Hill Park Tournament and the two senior boys’ football sides on their victories over Castle Court.  Congratulations to all pupils on an excellent set of performances – and to the staff on an excellent set of match reports - on a very busy day.

Kit Amnesty
While on the subject of sports, to support our regular kit inspections, we would be grateful if parents could take a few minutes this weekend just to check the labels on their children’s clothing to ensure that they are clearly labelled and that they do not have other belongings muddled with their own.  Any returns will be much appreciated, particularly by the Matrons!

News from the Pre-Prep
Years 1 & 2 will be holding informal Open Afternoons in the week beginning Monday 8 October from 3.40 pm.  These are opportunities for children to show parents their work so far this term.  Further details have already been sent to parents in a separate letter.  Next week we have a visit to Wimborne Minster for Year 1 on Tuesday (9 October).

Christmas Shoeboxes
Dumpton pupils have always enjoyed making up Christmas shoeboxes of presents for children who, otherwise, would receive little.  This year we will be sending the boxes to The Rotary Club, who will be forwarding them overseas to children in need.  If you would like to participate, please could you deliver your boxes, wrapped in Christmas paper to the Front Hall after half-term. There is a flyer containing further information attached to this letter and a leaflet was sent home with the pupils last night.  Thank you.

FoDS Quiz Night
The questions are written, the pizzas have been ordered for tomorrow evening (Saturday) …. but there is still space for last minute arrivals on the door. Bookings will remain open until the last table is filled!  PS Remember it is BYO …

Plea from the Drop-off Zone
We have received a number of complaints from parents about cars parking in the Drop-off Zone in the morning, sometimes against the traffic. This prevents the free flow of cars, creating frustration for all but, most importantly, it increases the risk of accident.  Please help us all in ensuring the safe delivery of the children to the school. Thank you in advance.

With best wishes
Andrew Browning

PS Fraser Portraits will be collecting the Pupil Photograph orders on Monday 8 October.
