Dear Parents

We took one more step towards normality this week at Dumpton. Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon saw 200 pupils represent the school in fixtures against Castle Court, both home and away. My thanks to Mr Randle and the team for all their organisation here, for what were two fantastic afternoons, despite the poor weather! The children have really missed the chance of playing in competitive fixtures against other schools, and there has been a buzz around school this week and real camaraderie on show. We have return fixtures against Castle Court again next week, and then it is Sandroyd after that.

We know that parents will be desperate to watch their children play, and we do really hope we'll be able to invite you along at some point this term. In the meantime, however, do remember that match reports for all fixtures can be found on the Dumpton sports website, usually within 24 hours of the match itself.

Scholarship Evening
A reminder to all parents, but perhaps particularly those higher up the school, that I will be discussing scholarships on Thursday evening at 7.30 via Zoom. Please do come along - it will be via the normal school ' assembly' link.

More Scholarship Success
On the subject of scholarships, we are very proud of a number of pupils in years other than Y8 who have been awarded scholarships this year. There were lots of scholarship offers from Talbot Heath: Gracie T and Izzy J were awarded Sports Scholarships, Lily R and Heather H All Rounder Scholarships, and Alice H an Academic Scholarship. Though not all of the girls will be accepting these offers, they should be very proud of this achievement. In addition, Jack I, a very promising golfer, has been offered a Sports Scholarship to Millfield School where he will benefit from their renowned golfing programme - we will watch his progress with great interest!

Summer Term Trips
The planned Y6 trip to Lulworth Cove next week has been postponed. However, we are currently in the process of confirming a number of trips for this term and will let you know when these have been updated in the calendar. Activity days at the beach, outdoor adventures, and even the odd overnight camping stay are in the pipeline as we hope to give as many pupils as possible the chance for an outing this term.

Social Media
Do follow us on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram to keep in touch with updates from Dumpton each day. It is a wonderful way to get a taste of what is happening, and it is lovely that so many parents are now following us and interacting with us on these channels. A summary of all our social media posts can be found on the front page of the website here: school-news

Face Coverings and Testing
We are grateful to all pupils who are wearing face coverings at the moment, or undergoing regular lateral flow testing, which, though not mandatory, is advised by the Government guidance. The Year 7 and Year 8 pupils wearing face coverings have coped superbly thus far, but we do appreciate it is a challenge, and we hope that guidance will be relaxed soon.

Mobile Devices Policy
We have been reviewing our school policy on mobile devices, including mobile phones and other 'smart' technology. As ever with technology evolving, we need to ensure as a school we stay on top of things, especially with regards to safeguarding children. Please look out for a letter from me early next week.

Contact Details
Finally, please can we ask that you let the school office know of any changes to contact details such as preferred email addresses or phone numbers.  Updates can be emailed to j.jeremiah@dumpton.com.  We are preparing and looking forward to introducing a new communication portal in September which should save busy parents some valuable time by using one dashboard for easy access to child specific information.

With best wishes for the weekend
