Dear Parents

Scholarship News
I am delighted to update you on our scholarship news. Firstly from Clayesmore, where Amelia C and Grace C were offered Sports Scholarships and Rosie P was offered an All-Rounder Scholarship, and also from BCS where Cameron H was offered a Sports Scholarship. Finally, Anthony L won an Academic award to Bryanston.  This brings our running total so far this year to 27, with many decisions still pending. Very well done to all.

Book Week
Following on from a very busy visit from Ali Sparkes last Friday, and Book Week this week, the Book Fair and competitions have now drawn to a close; the competition winners have been announced and the lucky winners have chosen their prizes - a book - from the Book Fair. Many thanks and well done to everyone who entered. The winners for the Book in a Box are: Jack FD, Emeli H, Isabelle N, Evie O, Izzy FD, Joshua J, Amelie H, Zak J and Lauren G. We also had some lovely photos, both cosy and adventurous, sent in for the Photo Competition. The winners are: 1st Fraser B, 2nd Evie O, 3rd Josslin H for the cosy reading, and 1st Georgie and Thomas R and 2nd Rosie E in the Pre-Prep, and 1st Leila AH, 2nd Lewis P, and Ethan Y, and 3rd Harry C in the Prep School.

Model United Nations
On Tuesday six pupils from Year 7 took part in the Model United Nations day at Bryanston. Here they debated major international issues with pupils from other prep schools, using the format and structures of the real UN. Katie P and Olivia S represented Brazil on the Environment Programme, attempting to find a solution to the depletion of the world’s resources. On the Human Rights Committee, Harry P and Alan S represented Britain in trying to strike a balance between fighting terrorism and safeguarding human rights, while in UNICEF Jacob P and William V put forward Israel’s perspective on dealing with the problem of child refugees fleeing Syria.  The Dumpton team were well-prepared and positive in all of their dealings with other nations, and a real credit to the school.

Dumpton Music
A big thank you to Canford School for hosting the Year 4 Singing afternoon – a very enjoyable afternoon for everyone involved.  Thank you to all the parents who supported our delightful Guitar Concert at lunchtime on Tuesday, celebrating the talents of many of Mr Albin’s pupils.  Well done to all the musicians and teachers involved.  We now look forward to the Woodwind Concert, all set for next Friday 15 March, from 1.30 pm in the Recital Room.  All welcome, as ever.

Steel Drums at Wimborne Fairtrade
We have been asked if the Dumpton Steels (our Steel Band) can play in The Minster for Fair Trade Weekend on Saturday (9 March) from 11.00-11.30am. Parents are welcome to support if they are out and about in Wimborne on Saturday morning.

News from the Pre-Prep
The Reception children had a lovely time at Moors Valley yesterday and Year 1 now look forward to a visit to Streets Meadow Residential home next Thursday (14 March).

Sports Round-up
There was the usual array of fixtures on Wednesday afternoon, with highlights including the 1st VII battling hard to come 4th at the King Edward VII, Southampton tournament, and the senior girls sides producing a string of wins against Sandroyd and FSM in a triangular fixture.  Well done also to the Cross Country team that braved the mud at Milton Abbey on Tuesday to record some excellent results.
