Dear Parents

It has been a wonderful half term. Thankfully, we have managed to avoid any significant disruption to schooling. In addition, thanks to the fantastic efforts of all the team at Dumpton, from the teaching staff through to the support staff, we have managed to get 'back to normal' as far as possible. It has been a big team effort. But the children's smiling, positive, and happy faces have made all those efforts seem more than worthwhile. They have returned to school superbly after a fair few months of disruption. We are all very proud of their efforts and the start they have made to this academic year.

Wimborne Food Bank

All the children know that ‘treating others as we would like to be treated’ is our main school rule. As well as looking after one another in school, at Dumpton we are also determined to look after those around us. The support and enthusiasm pupils have all shown for Wimborne Food Bank has been fantastic - thank you. We have a huge stockpile of items, which will be collected by a very grateful Wimborne Food Bank team over half term. There are more exciting and inspiring fundraising ideas in the pipeline for after half term - watch this space...

School Council Y8s

Well done to Matilda A-I, Amelie M, Tom C, Bertie C and Oscar V who were awarded their School Council badges today. They have been chosen by their peers and staff for how well they uphold the Dumpton values of being kind and aiming high. These pupils, and plenty more in Y8, are wonderful role models for our younger pupils, and I again thank them for setting such a good example.

Prep School pupils have today been told their Hobbies for after half term, with nearly everyone getting their first choice hobby. We are delighted to be able to offer 26 different Hobbies sessions in total each week - with each year group bubble having as much variety to choose from as possible given the need to keep year groups separate. As restrictions ease in the future, our offering will be able to become even more varied with lots of exciting and enriching new activities in the pipeline. Please remember that Y5 and Y6 Hobbies have now moved to a Tuesday – if you need to make a change to bus arrangements, please do so by using the online bus booking system as soon as possible.

Attitude to Learning Grades

Prep School Pupils have received these today, and parents should also have received this via email. Thank you to Mrs Rielly for her organisation here, and do refer to her letter for more details. All parents are of course welcome to arrange a chat with form teachers and/or subject teachers after half term.

Y2 Castle Day

It was wonderful to see Y2 dressed up today in school as Kings, Queens, Lord and Ladies as they learnt about castles, monarchs and all things medieval. I was called upon after lunch to 'knight' each child, all of whom had chosen some wonderful adjectives for themselves. Well done to Sir Edward the Earnest, Lady Theia the Thoughtful, Sir George the Gallant, and all the other Lords and Ladies of Y2!

Y8 Talent Show

Well done to the Y8s for organising their own talent show today. Amelie and Harry did a great job organising, and we had a whole range of acts, from musical, to mime, to spinning with a cup of water! it is lovely to see the range of talent on offer - but also the pupils showing the initiative and taking responsibility for the event itself.

Prep School Pick Up Arrangements

Thank you very much to all those parents who have already completed the form concerning pick up arrangements for the next half of term - it helps enormously with our planning. If you have yet to do this, please can I ask you to click on the link as soon as possible here

With best wishes for a lovely half term.
