Dear Parents

And one more scholarship to …
Mackenzie F, who has been awarded a Peter Attenborough All-Rounder Scholarship at Charterhouse.  Many congratulations to him.  This brings the total scholarships this year to an impressive 21.

Easter Egg Hunt
A big thank you to all the FoDS and Nursery parents who supported our Easter Egg Hunt today.  We were so grateful to all the FoDs Committee, led by Sarah Schiel, and extra helpers who were excellent hosts for the day – and it was good to see the smiling faces of all the children as they searched for the eggs in the adventure playground.  A special thank you also to Jessica Mcardle who painstakingly handmade all of the rosettes for the Competition.  We then retired to the Front Hall for hot cross buns and coffee.  They continued their good work with Year 1 and Year 2 after lunch! Some of the photographs from the morning will be available to view on the parents’ area of the website from next week. There were also enough chocolate eggs to ensure that every member of the school, from Nursery to Year 8 left for the Easter break with a smile on their face.

IAPS Swimmers
Congratulations to the Dumpton swimmers who have qualified for the IAPS National Swimming Championships at the K2 Centre, Crawley on Saturday 6 May 2017. Robbie H qualified in the 25m butterfly, Georgina H in the U10 Girls 25m freestyle, Henry S in the 50m breaststroke and Robbie, Ollie S, William S and Henry W for the U12 4x25m Freestyle Relay. The U12 4x25m medley relay team of Robbie, Ollie, William and James H is also first reserve for the meeting. Fingers crossed next term.

Year 4 Chocolatiers
The Year 4 pupils had a wonderful time on Tuesday at Hampreston School, being trained by a professional chocolatier.  They all learnt how to make a ganache and then hand-filled chocolates before dipping and coating them to make a bag of very impressive gifts for their parents – I hope!

A Message from Madame Tulodziecki - Summer Club
After Easter, Mme Tulodziecki will be in touch with all those who have signed up for the summer club.  Please remember to book your place online over the Easter break if you are interested to avoid disappointment – the link is below.  A reminder that the dates are Week 1: Mon 10 July – Fri 14 July and Week 2: Mon 17 July – Fri 21 July.

Dumpton Allotments
The school allotments have come to life this week, with big groups of pupils digging in earnest at lunch time - many have already prepared their 1 metre squares for planting. The science laboratories and school greenhouse are already full of germinating seeds.  If you would like your son or daughter to be involved next term, please send them back with wellington boots and gardening gloves if possible. Thank you.

FoDS Summer Ball: Message from the FoDS Committee
Half of the tables have already been reserved for the FoDS Big Top Summer Ball.  There are lots of places still available, but please don’t forget to reserve yours after the Easter holiday to avoid disappointment.  Please note that BACs payments should be made direct to FoDS (bank details are on the booking form).

Clash of the Titans
Soon after Easter, former Dumpton parent Graeme Souness will be managing a team in a local charity football match against a Harry Redknapp XI, in aid of The Louis Ross Foundation (www.louisross.org).  The match will take place at Wimborne Town FC on Thursday 27 April at 7.30 pm.  This should be great fun, for a great cause. Tickets available from the website.

Summer Term
The Summer Term starts on Tuesday 18 April 2017 and all children should return in their summer uniform as per recent e-mails.  Once again, to stagger the demands on the car park on the first day back, we would be very happy if the Pre-Prep parents dropped off their children a little later at 8.45 am. Of course those with siblings in the Prep School will be welcomed at the usual time.

And finally.….
We wish our squad of tennis players, accompanied by Mrs Cox, Mr Cox and Mr Jeremiah, all the best on their trip to play tennis on the Algarve next week.  We hope the sun shines for them throughout.

With best wishes for the Easter break.

Andrew Browning
