Dear Parents
Last scholarships of the season…
Well done to Mackenzie F who has been awarded an Academic Exhibition to Charterhouse.  This takes our grand total to 24 – a real testament to all the hard work from the pupils this year.  Well done to everyone involved in the process.

Year 2 Orienteering and Year 4 Raft-building
Yesterday the Year 2 children had a lovely time negotiating their way around the school under the supervision of Dumpton parent and orienteering expert Karen French.  A big thank you to her, and all the staff involved.  Meanwhile, the Year 4 pupils were also entertained at Sandbanks with an array of fun activities on the water, including raft-building and kayaking.

Wednesday Sport
There was another long list of fixtures and encouraging results on Wednesday against Walhampton, Port Regis, Forres Sandle Manor, Salisbury Cathedral School and BCPS.  Well done to the 1st XI cricketers on their win against Walhampton and to the 1st IX rounders team who beat Salisbury Cathedral School. There was also a big athletics meeting at Clayesmore with 20 schools taking part. Congratulations to the many competitors who ran, jumped or threw personal bests so early in the season, and to Joshua S (200m and 800m), Joe W (High Jump), Morgan B (Long Jump) and Niamh T (Javelin) who won their individual events on the day.

Dumpton Debating Society
Well done to the Year 7 debating teams today who argued the motion ‘This House believes that School uniform should be abolished.’ Both sides were very convincing, but in the end the motion was carried by a single vote.  Next term we will see if we should ban social media and, perhaps, lower the voting age to 13 …

Headmaster’s Breakfast
I look forward to welcoming the Nursery, Reception, Year 1, Year 2 and Year 3 Representatives at 8.30 am on Tuesday 9 May.  Should you have any last minute contributions, the year group representatives for this term are: Sarah Waters (Nursery), Emma Warington-Smyth (Reception), Hayley Brooks (Year 1), Alexa Bona (Year 2), and Laura Julier (Year 3).  I look forward to another positive meeting - Steph will provide delicious food (as last time) and the kettle will be on …

India Day – Friday 12 May
Just a reminder that the whole school will be involved in an Indian-themed Mufti Day next Friday, raising funds for the sponsorship of our pupil at Awake Mercy Children’s Home in Tamil Nadu.

Summer Ball
Another quick reminder that the deadline to hand in completed booking forms is fast approaching (Friday 19 May).

Year 4 Camps
Do spare a thought for the pupils of 4C who will be under canvas, or its modern day equivalent, at Dumpton this evening.  The weather looks much warmer than of late and the campfire is being built as I write.  We look forward to handing the children back to their parents (reasonably) well rested at 9 am tomorrow …
