Dear Parents

Dumpton Parliament
Today I welcomed the thirteen school MPs to the Meeting Room at lunchtime to discuss the year ahead.  The children came up with some impressive ideas and questions, and we will look to respond to as many of them as possible over the coming terms.

Remembrance Day at Dumpton
This is always a special day in our calendar, as we meet around the War Memorial in the centre of the school at 11 am, this year on Friday 10 November. Pupils will play the Last Post and Reveille – parents of musicians are welcome to support, of course.

Fine Dining @ Dumpton
Last call for parents who would like to book a place on the Head’s table at lunch next Thursday (9 November).  We will be asking guests to arrive in the Front Hall by 12.30 pm and lunch will be followed by coffee in the Headmaster’s Study.  There are a few places left, so do please contact stephthechef@dumpton.com by Tuesday at the latest.

FoDS Christmas Party
The tables for the Christmas Party have all but sold out with just a handful of tickets remaining.  If you would like to snap these up, please put envelopes with guest names and a cheque made payable to ‘Friends of Dumpton School’, in the FoDS box in the front office please by 17 November.

House Football
Congratulations to Sussex, who triumphed in the Inter-House Football tournament the day before half term.  It was good to see everyone playing with such spirit and purpose.

News from the Sportsfield
Well done again to all the pupils for some committed performances on Tuesday and Wednesday on the rugby pitch, and hockey astro.  Thank you also to all the parents for their support.  The U13 and U12 rugby sides continued on their winning ways against Clayesmore Prep. Meanwhile, the U13 and U12 girls’ hockey teams both had competitive games at home to Chafyn Grove, with a loss and win respectively, in preparation for their forthcoming IAPS Tournaments.

News from the Pre-Prep
The Reception children enjoyed an informative trip to Wimborne Library on Monday, and the Year 1 pupils are looking forward to their trip to Beaulieu next Thursday (9 November).  All the children are now enjoying preparations for their Christmas productions – remember to save the date!

Children in Need
On Thursday 16 November, we have the annual Children in Need celebration.  The stalls will be set up in the Sports Hall and ready from 3.30 pm for the Pre-Prep, 4.15 pm for Years 3, 4 and 5 and 4.45 pm for Years 6, 7, and 8.  Parents are, of course, welcome, and I would like to thank you in advance for your contributions to the stalls.  Each form in the Prep School will come up with ideas for their own money-raising ventures and we hope to build towards the totals of recent years.

Toy Story
Once again we are very grateful for the number of toys donated this year for Children in Need.  Dumpton parent, Sam Dean is continuing to do a sterling job of sorting numerous bags of toys.  Thank you very much for your offerings so far.  Any last minute contributions will be welcome right up to the morning of the sale.  Last call also for donkeys, shepherds, angels and any other Christmas production costumes or indeed any other fancy dress items which can be traded on the day ...

Christmas Club
Mrs Tulodziecki is continuing to look into the feasibility of running a Christmas Club this year.  Please e-mail h.tulodziecki@dumpton.com by next Friday (10 November) if this is something that you may be interested in. This would run for the first week of the Christmas holiday (Monday 18 December to Friday 22 December inclusive) and be open to pupils from Year 1 to Year 8.  The sessions would include an exciting mix of arts and crafts, cooking and fun on the astro.

Shoebox Appeal – Final Call
Thank you to those who have supported the Rotary Shoebox appeal so far. We have a sizeable pyramid of brightly wrapped shoeboxes in the Front Hall and would very much like to add to this before the final collection on Wednesday 8 November.

With best wishes
Andrew Browning
