Dear Parents

I am writing in advance of the Christmas Fayre this afternoon. What a buzz there already is around the school, and I’d like to thank the whole school community for their involvement – from those helping with stalls to the mountains of donations, to all of you who have attended and supported the event.

A special thank you must go to the Dumpton Friends team who have worked tirelessly over the past few weeks to plan and pull off such a brilliant Fayre – all giving up hours and hours of their own time to make this happen. Particular mentions go to Kate BoxerMissen and Zara Dawe, but there are so many other parents who have been particularly generous with their support. We are truly grateful, and lucky to have you all!

We are really rolling towards the end of term now, with one final Christmas show here at school (good luck Y3!) before the very special Carol Service in Wimborne Minster on Tuesday 16 December, involving all pupils from Y1 to Y8. Do see Mrs Shaw’s letter from earlier this week with more information here.

Christmas Nativities
Wow! What amazing performances we had this week from our youngest pupils in Nursery, Reception, Y1 and Y2. Around 130 pupils in total performed on the stage, and to see such young children getting the opportunity to perform in front of an audience – and to enjoy themselves so much as they did so – is what Dumpton is all about. A massive thank you to our brilliant performing arts team – what lucky children to have such enthusiastic and inspirational staff supporting their performing arts journey.

Christmas School Run Podcast
If you have yet to listen to this, you must. Our talented staff singing some brilliant Christmas songs. Download and have a listen on the way to school one day. Miss Oakes, Mrs Warde, Mrs Willcock and Mr Moulton – we salute you! The podcast is available in the usual places, or do find it through our website.

Chocolate Coins
To help us keep all children safe and to remain in line with our school’s allergy policy, we kindly ask that no chocolate coins or any other food items be included with cards sent into school. Even small treats can pose a risk to pupils with allergies, and we appreciate your support in ensuring our environment remains safe for everyone.

Secret Santa Gifts (Y4 – Y8)
A reminder that these should be in school by Wednesday at the latest please.

Prep School House Art Competition Reminder
The House Art Competition deadline is a week today. Do encourage your children to have a go, and all entries will be awarded merits which count towards the competition. The very best entries will be chosen for the iArt National Art Competition.

Prep School House Story Writing Competition
There is another opportunity for creativity this week – the English Department has recently launched the inaugural House Story Competition.

All pupils from Year 3 to Year 8 are invited to write a story of their own creation but containing within it the theme of ‘threads’. English teachers have discussed this with their classes and given everyone a chance to get started. There has been a positive reaction from many pupils.

All entries will gain House Points. The best ones will be entered into the ISEB ‘Time to Write’ competition. Here are the main details:

Closing date for entries – Friday 9 January 2026. Please hand your work to your English teacher.

Years 3 and 4: 500 words
Years 5 and 6: 650 words
Years 7 and 8: 750 words – all word limits are + /- 10%

All entries should be typed and must the pupil’s own work.

With best wishes for the weekend.
